Purchasing a product from an online retailer can be risky business, especially if you’ve never made a purchase from them in the past. Shopping online has become a very popular process for most people, as it’s just easier than actually getting in the car and heading out to the store (for some, others would argue that fact). In other instances, it’s just better because it allows you buy stuff that may not be available in the physical stores of your local retailer. There are a lot of benefits that come a long with buying your products online, but one thing that you need to get into the habit of doing is checking the online reviews.
Online reviews can say a lot about an online retailer, and it can help you decide whether you want to follow through with an online purchase or not. Online reviews will be honest in most cases, but you’ve got to be able to identify the fake ones as well – competitors will be putting up negative reviews to try and persuade you to purchase the product from them instead. Fake reviews will typically come off as super negative, as they don’t want you to even think about buying the product at that time.
It can be tough to decipher it when they’re very good at creating the fake negative views though, and you should be taking everything within reason – the best experience will always be personal experience. There are many forums and websites that allow people to voice their opinions on products, and even social media platforms may be something that could help you out.
What If There Aren’t Any Reviews?
No reviews can either mean that the business is illegitimate and is trying to scam you, or that they’re just a brand new business that is starting up. There are many small businesses to take into account these days, especially since it’s relatively easy to set them up online. No reviews means that they haven’t been around long enough to warrant one, or they just don’t want them out there; then again, most scam companies will have at least one review (that review being a negative one).
Should I Be Leaving Them?
It’s always a good idea to voice your opinion on a product that you’ve paid money for. You don’t owe the company anything, and you aren’t going to be doing the other customers any favors if you bite your tongue on negative products. They deserve to know when something sucks, so if you make a purchase and you aren’t satisfied, feel free to leave a negative review. Always be reasonable though, and don’t just bash products because you don’t like what they stand for. That’s almost as bad as producing the fake negative reviews that competitors favor so much, as there’s no real merit to it – but people will think there is, especially on websites like Amazon.
When it doubt, always check with the reviews and see if a product will meet your standards.
